REFLECTIONS ON MELVILLE Exhibitions are now up!

Chapter 1 is at Arrowhead in Pittsfield and Chapters 2 and 3 are at the Eclipse Mill Gallery in North Adams. This is the 160th Anniversary of the publication of Moby-Dick which was written at Arrowhead. There are about 30 Paintings by Arthur Yanoff and 30 Photographs by Kay Canavino.

Short description of programme

The Primo Piano Atelier is a space dedicated to instruction in Printmaking, specialising in engraving and intaglio, both traditional and experimental techniques. For each session you will learn about various procedures related to the drawings, preparation of plates or matrices, the choice of paper, ink, the printing, numbering, the signature and the stamp. The programs is a haven for creative rejuvenation and intensive focus. The classes are enriched with special seminars and lectures on the works displayed in the adjacent rooms. Meetings with artists to discuss the critical technical aspects, current trends in both the art world and (importantly) international art schools, and also the most important contemporary trends in art theory and criticism.

Annual NMWA Artist Book Grant

(BOOK ARTISTS) The National Museum of Women in the Arts is accepting proposals for annual Artist Book Grant, 2012—The Library Fellows Program was established in 1989 to encourage and support the creation of artists’ books and to benefit the Library and Research Center. Although collaborative works are allowed and even encouraged, the artist who is responsible for the overall creation, design and realization of the book must be a woman.

The Fellows’ contributions are used to produce an artist’s book in a limited edition of 125 copies. As a benefit of membership, each Fellow receives a copy of the book. The artists keep 25 copies as a form of remuneration for their creative efforts. The remaining copies are sold and the money generated from the sale benefits the Library and Research Center. Deadline is June 30th!
