Gabrielle, I am disappointed that the first I hear of BAK leads me to links to Amber Chand and her blog which speaks only of Gaza and not the reciprocal pain the Palestinians have caused the families of so many Israelis. I guess that her mission and her personal feelings are not quite in sync.

Amy
Amy: I appreciate your comment and indeed in the piece I wrote I mentioned my interest in finding a way to support a deaf women’s crafts cooperative in Gaza, knowing that they had just gone through such a devastating experience.
Indeed, my heart also goes to Israelis on the other side of the conflict – innocent victims of a deep and anguished animosity. This is why in 2004 I designed and launched the Jerusalem Candle of Hope – a collaboration between both israelis and palestinians as a testament to their hope for peace.
Through all this, I am reminded of a Rumi poem. It goes simply:
“Beyond ideas of right and wrong, there is a field. I will meet you there”
This evocative line represents the spirit of my work and the mission of the Collection . One in which I am committed to finding ways to build bridges of peace and reconciliation between peoples torn apart by conflict – through the craft that they create.
Your comment highlighted the importance of such a committment.
Enjoyed reading the article about youin Artful Mind.
Thank you, Adeline!
We’re hoping to get it reposted here on the blog.
